Come one, come all and witness the incredible shrinking iPod! With the nano, Apple introduces the latest member of the highly successful iPod family of digital audio players. The nano is aptly named since it's a fraction of the size of its larger iPod cousins. It is the width of a pencil and comes in at a feather-light 1.5 ounces. For Apple's next trick, they've taken this new, diminutive iPod and added all of the features of a regular iPod. You get a bright, full-color display, Apple's famous Click Wheel, and up to 14 hours of battery life. With that said, take a peek behind the curtain and be amazed at the rest of what the iPod nano has to offer:

Connector for optional dock; stereo minijack; charge time: about 3 hours (1.5 hour fast charge to 80% capacity); audio support; AAC (16 to 320 Kbps), Protected AAC (from iTunes Music Store); MP3 (16 to 320 Kbps); MP3 VBR; Audible (formats 2, 3, & 4); Apple Lossless; WAV; AIFF; photo support: JPEG/BMP/GIF/TIFF/PSD (Mac only)/PNG; sync & charge via USB cable; adjust audiobook playback speed; create multiple on-the-go playlists; shuffle songs or albums; repeat one or all; 20 equalizer settings; backlight timer; display contrast; alarm; sleep timer; date & time; display time in menu bar; supports: Windows 2000 with Service Pack 4 or later, Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 2 or later, Mac OS X v10.3.4 or later; unit dimensions: 3.5 x 1.6 x 0.27; unit weight: 1.5 ounces.

4 out of 5 stars durable and surprisingly useful   January 24, 2009
A. Burke (Los Angeles, California)
I take my ipod everywhere - for audiobooks, self hypnosis tracks to use at the acupuncturist's, podcasts, language lessons and Oh Yes! Music.

I have only one complaint (which is why I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars) - some other brands have an audio recorder and I sure wish this one had one! I will probably end up buying another brand of mp3 someday just for that. In fact, I have bought some cheapo mp3 recorders just for that - but they were too junky to bother with. And I don't really trust non-mac-compatible ones.

A recorder built in would fill a real need.

4 out of 5 stars ipod nano   January 5, 2009

i got my ipod nano almost 3 years ago. its worked perfect hee are some pros and cons about it

pros
its small
it can hold all the music ilike(250 songs )
the navigation is very easy to use
it charges pretty fast
the batter goes down quite slwoly

cons
it gets scratched easily(just buy a 1 dollar gel skin)
it has had 2 minor bugs(just plug in ur pod to the computer go to >start>programs>ipod>ipod updater>refresh)
the headphone jack doesnt really hold the headfones in well

over all this is a good buy but shop around for a bit u can get these new-refurbished for about 60 dollars @ some places

5 out of 5 stars Great Value   June 20, 2008
Jay (NY)
I have had my nano for over 2 years now and it works great. I listen to it for about 2 hours a day 5 days a week and it is still flawless. I'm getting an 80 gig just because I want to have my entire music library on my ipod, but if you don't mind erasing and adding new songs once in a while then this is a great buy!
